More Kalgoorlie great times

The great times in Kalgoorlie just kept going.  Finally everyone settled into a better sleeping pattern and that was just the start of it.  High on the agenda for the boys was more driving, more shooting, finding some gold and a fishing request from Alex.

The plan was to catch yabbies here... unfortunately no yabbies
Grandpa Bill was kept busy planning the next adventure.  Fishing is always very high on Alex's wish list and so off to the dams we went.  Alex was also very impressed that we could say "dam" without it being a 'naughty word'.

A highlight for us was when cousin James changed his Easter plans at the last minute to stay in Kalgoorlie and hang out with us all.  His dedication even went as far as going to see a kiddie movie with them.

Luke hanging out in the back of the ute.
I hadn't realised that the tourist mine had shut down so had been assuring Luke that we would go and do some panning for gold again this trip.  Luke was very keen to find some as he's started to work out the value of things.  So we had to come up with a new (and slightly sneaky) plan.

James and Alex at Kings Battery
Prospecting for gold.  No gold here but we did manage to plant some gold leaf in some rubble and pass that off as a gold find.  Luke was a little confused as to why the gold keep floating in the panning dish rather than staying on the rocks...  Never mind...

Luke was in charge of excavating this site.
And before we knew it it was Easter Sunday.  Lucky the Easter Bunny got our note that we would be in Kalgoorlie and the garden was filled with eggs.

Sharing the loot
The Easter egg bounty had to be shared across everyone.  This was my strategy for making sure I didn't have to get on the plane back to Melbourne with two little boys who were completely hyped on sugar.  To their credit they accepted this with good grace.

Alex turned James into a horse.  Lucky for us he has loads of energy.
And then before we knew it the trip was at an end and we were off to the airport.  Thank you Grandpa Bill, Pat, Karen and James for helping make yet another special Easter in Kalgoorlie.  Since we've been home the boys have decided that we should go to Kalgoorlie every Easter and Grandpa Bill, Pat, Karen and James had better be there.

The flight home went quite well.  As we were taking off from Kalgoorlie Luke was extremely sad to be leaving Karen behind - he loves her so much.  That night both boys cried themselves to sleep as they missed Karen so much.  They then decided that she needs to come and live in Melbourne with us!

Those two boys have so much go but I think that they were encouraged by Karen & then James. It would have been good if we had found some gilgies to catch and eat but it was lucky that we had some sausages so didn't starve. Both boys are good drivers and didn't miss a single bump on the tracks even when going fast.
I was sad to see them leave & can't wait until next time.
Jo I miss you too.
