Luke starts school

Life is starting to settle down a bit. Alex is still waking a couple of times a night but not every 2 to 3 hours that he was at the start. He’s also been giving us lots of lovely smiles which is just gorgeous and starting his version of chatting. He still gets quite a lot of wind which causes him pain and results in quite a bit of burping and posseting (although less than before). I seem to spend most of my times doing washing and am grateful for my summer baby which means it can dry on the line.

Alex was weighed and measured again last Thursday (2 days short of 5 weeks) and he’s gaining at a cracking pace. His weight is 5.3 kilos and length 58cm – putting him above average. I’m regularly putting clothes aside as he outgrows them!

Luke started at the La Petite Ecole (the French school) this week. He was so excited to be going to ‘school’ and nagged me from about 8am to get going. By just before 9am I was so worn down that I threw the boys in the pram and started walking the long way around the park. Luke wasn’t happy about that but it meant arriving at 9:15am rather than 9am. Still we got a stern look from the teacher and were reminded that the school opens at 9:30am. Very strict these French teachers!

G and I have developed a bit of a pattern for managing at home. Alex is still sleeping in our room due to lack of space (although we hope that renovations will start in a few months) but we’re now wheeling his cot down to the lounge room at night so we all sleep a little better. On days when Luke’s at childcare I put the cot in Luke’s room so I can have an uninterrupted lunchtime nap. Evenings are a little tricky as Luke needs feeding and can be quite cheeky at times. Alex wants to feed and then gets the 5 o’clock grizzles so it’s hard to put him down.
