I hear time and time again how Alex looks like a little GuiGui. There could be much worse things in life!
We’ve had a couple of weekend excursions lately, each with their own stories.

Last weekend we ignored usual day time sleep patterns (which usually keeps us at home over lunch) and took the boys to the zoo. Luke was very keen to see the tiger but so was everyone else. The elephants and giraffes were a hit but the sleepy lunchtime habits of many of the animals left the boys unimpressed.

The weekend before, we went to the Studley Park boathouse where Luke was determine that we would all head out in a row boat. Due to a technical glitch (they only accepted cash and we were short) we had to send Luke with G whilst Alex and I watched from the shore. I don’t think Alex was very happy.

Alex is at the stage of not wanting to sit in his pram but preferring to push it so that’s annoying when we’re out and about. His objections are combined with high pitch screeching. Given he really wants to communicate and words aren’t coming yet we’re hearing so much screeching that we’re calling him ‘Screech’. No wonder the neighbour is trying to sell up.

Alex, like Luke, starts most mornings in our bed whilst we wish we were still sleeping… Alex in particular is very active and is likely to clobber one of us. He is often pacified with ‘row, row your boat’ although he likes to do it sitting on my stomach and when he gets excited he jumps up and down. Not a great way for me to start the day.

We know our house is not big enough but it really isn’t now that Luke is bringing home a steady steam of art from both French school and Possums (now that he’s a big boy in the Green room). Some of it is wonderful and we all consider where it would look best. Luke likes to bring it out and show us on a regular basis.
Alex is cute but frustrating at bedtime. We have a ritual of both boys having milk in their room and a book or two. Then G and Luke go to our room whilst I put Alex into his cot. Alex has realised what’s going to happen next and makes a break for it running as fast as he can on his little legs to the kitchen. When he’s caught he throws his head back and gives a big chuckle. Alex is the type of kid that seems to be trying to be funny a lot of the time.
Alex does have a bad habit – spitting. It started as a raspberry to get attention and because he and Luke now have spit offs over things they both want he has progressed into a rapid-fire raspberry. Still a little cute but has the potential to get out of hand.
Luke has caught onto the concept of age and nearly every morning stands on the bed and says “I bigger, bigger, bigger” whilst running his hands from his feet up to the top of his head. He’s such a sweet, little thing and already growing up to fast so it’s heartbreaking to see him wishing he was bigger. He says when he’s bigger he’ll go to work.
