J – so much has happened since we last updated the blog. The biggest news is that Luke has taken his first steps. The official date was last Friday, 1 December although G saw him take two steps on the Thursday night but I didn’t so we don’t count that! I should point out to everyone that thinks Luke is now walking around the house that it is about three steps only when he’s on his feet and reaching out for something that is close but not close enough. We give him a big cheer every time he ‘walks’.
The day after we posted the last blog Luke started babbling with a distinct mamama and bababa. It was especially amazing for me to hear mamama but it’s obvious as time goes on he’s not calling me just using it to express something that only he knows.
Luke has been getting quite clingy to us lately which is consistent with what the development books say. His drop-off at childcare is hard as he now puts on a big display with tears and all kinds of dramatics. About the same time he started ‘cuddling’ up to us. If we’re playing on the floor he’ll move on closer and rest his head on our laps or some other deliberate move to snuggle. Just gorgeous.
G – Luke still enjoys his cart pushing ! In fact, he’ll push just about anything that will move forward! His awakening into life is now becoming much more obvious. He is constantly wanting to touch or grab things. He certainly loves to point at things and go “eeeuuhh”.
I got ‘done’ a couple of weeks ago when Luke was not wearing nappies. Holding him against me whilst he did a no1 and no2 is not a highlight, but I understand a necessary rite of passage into parenthood.
JJ is back as of last week, escapong the coup d'etat in Fiji. Not sure if he is glad to be back though.
