We just spent Easter in Kalgoorlie with Grandpa Bill and Pat. John and Dalys bought Lucy and Will and then Karen came along as well so it was a bit of a reunion. It was the first visit to Kalgoorlie for the boys as I I told them very important as that's where I started
Hanging out in Grandpa Bill's ute - if the boys were missing this is where we would find them. Note Grandpa Bill did teach them to eat rockmelon hanging out of the window to save a sticky interior. And then Luke taught Alex how to abseil off the tray of the ute.

As luck would have it there was an Easter Egg hunt for the whole town on the day after we arrived. Here's some play action after the frantic hunting. Cousin Will and Luke.
And then we were good tourists and went off to the tourist mine. Here I am with Karen teaching the boys how to pan for gold. Grandpa Bill had shown Luke his gold nuggests before we went and Luke could not get over his disapointment that we weren't pulling gold like that out of this little pond. Grandpa - it might have been nice if you got there just before us and planted a few.
We often try to get a good family photo when someone else is around to pass the camera over to. It's not easy as you can see...
One of Alex's favourite expressions is "uppy" and the only one he likes even more is "horsey". So here is poor mummy being a horsey with some great Kalgoorlie views in the background - the mine head frame in the background. It's been probably 10 years or more since I was last in Kalgoorlie and being back in the red dirt with the unique features of the town around really bought back a lot of memories.
And then we did what I always remember (and hated) doing as a kid we went "out bush". It was great to have everyone else around - Karen, John & Dalys with Lucy and Will, and then Grandpa Bill & Pat. As you can see from these "out bush" photo's the kids were happily exploring leaving us to rest up.
And then a picnic lunch with everyone. Note the utes in the background. My cousin James lent us his ute and by the end of the week G and I didn't want to give it back. It was definitely a vehicle that fit Kalgoorlie and the boys loved driving around in one - made them feel like 'workers'.
To be continued...
