For pretty much the last 4 and a half years G and I have felt like we are doing it way too tough in the sleep department. With lots of encouragement, toddler alarm clocks and just setting some rules the wake up time in our house has shifted to 6:30am. Sometimes a little earlier and sometimes a little later – can you believe it? Please let this stay.
And here they are flying up the street with their new capes on.
So we’ve moved from our old bribery of ice-cream for a big sleep because that would be happening 6 nights a week into on a Wed the boys can go to the toy shop and choose something around the $10 mark. Last week they chose capes and this week I was out over the weekend and bought a football for Luke. It’s been a huge hit.
Possums recently had the reptile handler in and because it was a Wed we went in for a vist. The boys loved the lizards, snakes and even a baby crocodile.
Luke is very into soccer at Possums. When I do the pick up there is a whole pack of boys – the girls are off by themselves playing mums and babies – playing the roughest version of soccer you could ever imagine. I think rugby is a better description. But Luke is passionate and eats everything on his plate so he can play harder and faster. Sorry to disappoint Grandpa Bill but for some reason we can’t quite work out Luke is a Cats supporter (in the AFL). That’s Geelong and I can’t say he has any association with that. A mystery.
We had the most beautiful feedback on Alex recently from his teacher at French school. She said he was just like having a teachers helper and he is very kind and considerate to his classmates who might not be grasping the tasks as quickly as him. She said he was a realy leader and an asset to her classroom. Just so lovely to hear that.
Toddler taming! I don't think I would volunteer to do this but most of the kids had a turn.
Luke on the other hand… at a meeting with his kinder teacher at Possums she said Luke just doesn’t know when to stop. He’s so social and enjoys attention from the other kids so he tends to act up, annoy the kids and just push things too far. This isn’t the Luke we have at home but we’ve definitely seen this behaviour when he’s with his friends. Oh dear!
This is Georgie - they've been each others favourite since they were in baby Possums together
Still they are growing and changing all the time so hopefully Luke will move on from this stage. Both boys seem to have had a growth spurt recently and have moved into the next size of clothes. For Alex it seemed to happen overnight and one day all his pants were too short and his sleeves ending well above his wrists. Alex loves when he gets something new “Mummy this new top?”. Poor sausage doesn’t realise they just come from the box in the cupboard of Luke’s hand me downs.
