Boys in the snow

This time last week we were up at Falls Creek for 5 days in the snow. We were so lucky that it snowed 36cm on the day we arrived so the village turned white overnight.

Luke was so excited about going to the snow that we a had a count down on for a few days. It’s hard to think of in 3 and then 2 nights time when you’re 4. We left at the crack of dawn on a wed morning and as Luke was going off to bed we told him that when he woke (and only if it was a reasonable time ie after 5:30am) then we’d get in the car and go. So bless him he woke at 10pm and then had a yelling fit because we wouldn’t get into the car then.
This little cherub wouldn't cause any problems - no!

Travelling with the boys does get easier, they are both guaranteed to sleep for a bit and then with a few toys and snacks we get through. Thank goodness for all the trucks on the road because that makes life interesting. But…
Alex just lvoed been out and about messy around in the snow.

Alex has hit the terrible two’s a bit and he did have a huge breakdown and was completely impossible. We stopped for fuel and toast and at one stage t looked like we were going to have to leave him behind! Eventually and not without a bit of foot stomping on my behalf we managed to get Alex back into the car.

Alex also has an extremely cute way of saying “apple, I like it … no”, “all dark … no”.

And now we're down with Milo Club and skiing with Mummy or Papa - his ability to learn is just amazing
So we get to Falls Creek, it’s snowing and all looks promising. The first afternoon was mainly sledding and playing in the snow whilst we watched the snow pile up around us. Thursday morning was a big day for Luke who went off to Milo Club. G and I shared a lift ticket so he took Luke up whilst I took Alex out with Nicole and Cati. All was quite good until we went on the chairlift from the bottom of the village and about 2/3 of the way into Alex decided he had enough and was getting off. I mean literally jumping off!!!
G and Luke setting off for a mornings skiing - no poles for beginners.

The next day we kept Luke out of Milo Club and took him skiing with us. G took Luke out first using the ‘skiing between the legs’ method. All went well so I had a turn. Luke has pretty strong legs thanks to all his bike riding. We both agreed that the beginner slopes were a little tame so Luke and I hit the harder (but still easy) Green slopes. Luke was more than capable of skiing on his own.

The following day Luke was skiing for about 5 hours with lunch and a nap in between. He even skied part of a Blue run and then much to my horror started taking the jumps on the sides of the run. Like most little boys Luke just went head first down the slopes with not much snowplowing going on. We were so proud of him.

And I've finally learnt to upload video - so here's Luke sking.
