We recently had what is becoming our annual holiday at Falls Creek.  The big news for this year is that Alex was on skis and skiing.  Significant progress over Alex's performance last year.  Tivoli Lodge is becoming a home away from home for us and the kids get so excited when we arrive.

We couldn't have had better weather.  In fact it was almost too hot.  G had bought Luke a North Face jacket and he couldn't wear it.  We would start the day in jackets or fleeces and strip down to long sleeved tshirts as it warmed up.

 Luke took to skiing like a natural once again.  He really enjoys all kinds of sports and sets himself the challenge to do well.  We didn't bother with Milo Club for Luke this year as he's so capable and prefers to be out taking on new challenges.  Next year he's eligible to join the bigger kids and no doubt he'll enjoy that.  He could handle a bit of effort in the technique department.

The number one problem with Luke is that he is so fast (faster than me) but still snow ploughs straight down hill without many turns.  He tried some more slopes this time, harder green runs and takes it all in his stride.  I'm like Mother Duck skiing behind him making sure other skiers see him and trying to call out instructions "more turns".  Something to do with the ski helmet means he can hardly hear me!

Alex preferred to 'ski between the legs'.  That was OK with me, he sang songs and nursey rhymes pretty much the whole time.  So very sweet.  We came to an agreement that he had to use his "strong skiing legs' and not put too much pressure on the poles and therefore me.  Skiing this way we can follow behind G and Luke and not be left too far back.  It is a lot of pressure on me to snow plough the whole time, especially in the afternoon when the snow was getting slushy but more than worth it to be sharing the experience with him.

 And then out of the blue Alex amazed us after what we had decided was a disastrous morning at Milo Club by skiing solo.  He just said "I can do it" and took off.  We were on the beginners slope...  A few turns, an attempt at stopping and some huge smiles.

And then to top it all off we now have a new family tradition - a 'family hug'.  One of the kids calls "family hug" and we all head to the big bed and pile up for a massive "huggle" (as Alex called it tonight).
