Having a go at fishing, no luck
This is the year where we will get back into camping. Last year the weather was awful - floods, freezing - so the planned trips never happened. The boys are very excited to be planning trips and using our tent.

Term 1 is officially over and Luke and Alex have had a great start to the year. Alex is so enthusiastic about school. He was begging his teacher to start reading and some nights will read 2 or 3 books to practice his Golden Words. So different to our experience with Luke...

Alex at our campsite
Another major difference is that Alex and his mates (there's about 5 or 6 of them) are choosing to spend their morning break in the library. He just loves going there. They are quite a rough and tumble group of boys so delightful they can also explore this other side. At lunchtime they are choosing to hang out at the Friendship Tree wrestling and digging in the dirt.

A swing between the trees - really a clothes line
Luke and his bestie Liam continue to as tight as ever. So much so that there are often texts first thing in the morning asking if Luke is dressing up (on dress up days), wearing long sleeves (on cold days) etc. I wasn't prepared for the pressure of aligning to another families traditions that comes with a best friend. From how much access to TV, the Wii to what the Easter Bunny brings. Liam gets a toy as well as an Egg from the Easter Bunny so Luke and Alex have been writing notes all week asking if they can too and requesting the Skylander that they want. Unfortunately they are going to be disappointed.

A popular activity was floating down the river in the current - G and Alex
I've always felt lucky to have such affectionate boys. So very sweet, although Luke decided early in Prep that there would be no kissing at school - not even for a goodbye. Alex is different. If he sees me he launches himself at me for hugs and kisses - even when arriving at assembly and if the class walks back to the classroom.

Luke's class presented the assembly this week and Luke has made significant progress with his reading and his ability to read in front of a large audience. The kids are very serious about getting hold of the microphone and then speaking their bit. They read a sentence first in French and then in English.
Luke's was: "I like to play the wii with my best friend best friend because he is good at it."

Then it was Luke's turn
I had the opportunity to take the boy's to their swimming lesson's this week as G was away. Both are progressing so well but I know that anyway. One really hot Wed night we packed a picnic dinner and headed to our local pool. Both love the diving board and there were only a few kids using it so they got lots of jumps in each. Alex even jumped off the big board (3m) and swam to the edge himself. He was so proud and so were we.

It is good that the boys enjoy camping and the outdoor life. If there weren't any fish were there any gilgies or yabbies?
When I get there I am looking forward to having Alex read to me and to see how Luke has improved.
Won't be long and it will be great to see you all.
