Grade 3 camp and stuff

A huge moment for Grade 3’s is heading off to school camp.  It was all Luke could think about for weeks and weeks in the lead up.  A few days away with his buddies free of parents…  Loads of activities and rumours of dessert every night.  Camp was wonderful but the boy who came home was exhausted from no where near enough sleep and had a horrible cold from wearing shorts and tshirts (the same ones I suspect) the whole time even for fishing and night walks.

Just a small bag for two nights away
Alex has decided that he’s growing his hair.  I’ve preferred him with short hair to date but notice most of the boys in his class have longish hair.  So we have to push through the awkward stage where it just looks shaggy and get to the cool stage.  For the first couple of weeks he was up for washing his hair (unheard of in our house) every few days and blow drying it for optimum shininess.

Mr Long, Clean and Shiny
Luke has also had his school sports day and proudly came home with two third place ribbons – for long jump and hurdles.  A bit disappointed that two of the kids dominate all sports and so win all the first and second ribbons.  I’ve explained that those kids do Little Athletics so have been trained in how to do the sports properly.

I had a huge shock whilst lunch after mountain biking recently.  Our kids and their friend Max were climbing in the trees and I saw a kid fall out.  In true Mum style rushed over to find Max had fallen out of the tree and Alex had broken his fall.  Much to my amazement Alex didn’t have any broken bones.
Before the fall, three happy boys hanging out in the tree
Hints of summer are on the way so the much beloved hammock is being pulled out of the garage.  It amazes me just how much use we’ve had out of it and what a drawcard it is for all the kids that come to visit.
Best way to spend the afternoon
Soccer season has come to an end.  The final day was a fun one with each kid getting a trophy and final photos/goodbyes with their teams.  We’re definitely up for this again next year.
