It’s been a tough few months and we had to say goodbye to one of our most avid blog readers who loved hearing about her grandsons and what they’re up to. My Mum, Maureen and Monnie to my boys, passed away in early June after a short battle with cancer. We all miss her dearly.
Alex continues to thrive and I’m very interested in his next weigh in. I’ll put money on 9 kilos plus.

He’s taken to solids well although his food is limited at this stage. Luke is very fond of waving biscuits around and saying “not for Hanix, Hanix tooo little”. Alex looks like he would dearly love to sink his teeth into something solid. He grabs at my hand when I’m eating toast to such an extent it’s almost teasing to eat in front of him.
My memories of Luke at this age are fairly dim but I’m sure that Alex is a much messier eater than Luke ever was. Every meal results in food all over his face – he like to try to grab the spoon – and over his clothes as well. Alex is not at all fond of a ‘flannel face’ ie cleaning up his face with a face washer. I tell him it’s the price he pays for eating.

Alex’s latest trick is sitting up. He was always very determined to get off the floor and into the good stuff like Luke. When I say sitting up it means that he can stay sitting for quite some time and really only falling over when gets over confident reaching for something. He can’t be left alone though unless surrounded by pillows.

Luke is great and awful at any stage of the day. His early waking is settling at 6am or later which is brilliant for us but he consistently doesn’t sleep at home anymore. That makes some days very long and have to result in a car ride in the early afternoon to help him to sleep. The evening would be awful if we didn’t.
His language skills are beautiful and his sense of humour delightful.

I’ve just about given up making him ride in the pram with Alex and let Luke walk along with the ‘push push’ – his toy pram and teddy which are still a huge favourite – or ride ‘little bike’. He’s very careful about stopping at roads and laneways and checking for cars. He gets cranky if he thinks we don’t do it. ‘Little bike’ is great now that he can pedal although he picks up quite a bit of speed and I have to jog along with the pram to keep up

with him.
On our recent trip to Perth we were fortunate to be able to go to cousin Lucy’s first birthday. Lucy and Alex have really hit off with Lucy teaching Alex how to splash in the bath.
