If I had a dollar for every time someone commented how active and all consuming my boys are I would be wealthy…. Recently the colour consultant who spent an hour and a half with us looked like she wanted to get out of here pronto after my boys were racing around doing a new thing every minute. Still we love that way and wouldn’t change it.
Some funny stories from over the past month.

G has been determined that the boys need a pet so we settled on a guinea pig. One Saturday G and Luke set off to find one. G can tell you that it’s not easy locating guinea pigs through the pet store system. In the car on the way home Luke named her Sophie. Well Alex can’t say Sophie so calls her “Tophie “(which sounds an awful lot like toffee). I’ve had to explain to everyone that he’s not in the middle of toffee eating frenzy but adjusting to life with a pet.
Latest news on Tophie is that she’s had 3 babies so we currently have 4 guinea pigs!

Alex has a pet of his own but not one that eats, poos etc! A French traveller knocked on the door one night selling original artwork. G invited him in, gave him a beer and we bought “Woofy”. Alex was so attached to Woofy that he had a major tantrum when the picture was left at the framing shop and then when we picked it up he had a hissy fit that they tried to wrap Woofy up in brown paper.
Alex has also become very picky about the clothes he will wear. Since toilet training he prefers elastic waist pants rather than flies and buttons. He would wear only tracksuit if he could. We have a war if I try to get him to wear jeans.
G is teaching Luke all kinds of things now he’s going on 5. Often I put Alex into bed and come out to the lounge room to find them playing cards and sometimes even chess.
One of the harder things to sit back and watch is the brotherly love that also turns into beating each other up. I know everyone with brothers says that this is just a right of passage and some of the latest thinking says how important it is to let them sort things about between themselves but as their Mum I don’t like it. The saving grace is that Alex is a solid and even hefty boy so physically Luke is not over dominating him. Luke has his moments where he can be so kind and generous. This keeps the peace and shows some sign of turity forming in Luke.
