Winter has come

No reason to not climb the tree because it is Autumn
The ladder of doom is working well.  Alex is getting to know everyone’s clothes as his most common ‘job’ to offset bad behaviour is sorting the washing ready for folding.  He gets it right most of the time.
Typical afternoon at our house
Our efforts to keep the kids out of our bed at night and in the early morning are a bit mixed.  One night recently I turned Alex away from our bed a bit after midnight “because it was the middle of the night”.  Then I jumped into his bed for a few minutes to warm it up before heading back to my bed.  Then at 5:45am Alex is back saying “it’s nearly morning, not the night so I’m getting in”.

Alex looking sweet
And then last week I woke up at 5am and reached for the person in my bed to snuggle and found a little hand.  I couldn’t help but ask “who’s that?” “Luke” was the answer.  Apparently he had come in during the night and G has been cast off to Luke’s bed.

Luke the mountain biker
Recently we went to a place we’d heard about for some mountain biking.  Luke loved every minute and was off with G on the hard trails.  Alex found it a bit harder (his bike is smaller and doesn’t have gears) but once he got over his hissy fit did really well.  So going again was all Luke could think about, lucky G loved it too and they were off again the next day!

Hay fight at the winter solstice
And then it was the Winter Solstice (yay!) and we went off to a massive bonfire night.  Given there was going to be thousands of people, and it would be dark I decided to give the kids a card with my mobile number on it just in case they got lost.  Sure enough Luke was first and was duly returned.  Didn’t stop him heading back to the huge bonfire though… then Alex got separated as we were leaving and ended up out of the gate well before us.  When I found him he was upset because he has swapped jackets and knew he didn’t have the card in his pocket anymore.

This is quite typical at our house, no one hurt...
Long time between Melbourne visits for Morag but she was a hit with the boys all the same.  Too busy with her own social life as they were always disappointed when she wasn't home.

WOW - tell those two to stop growing - perhaps if you stop feeding them.
I guess that it is school holidays now and the search is on for things to occupy them. It sounds as though Moran was a distraction for some of the time. It would have been so good to have her there.
I have in mind a tree out in the bush that I think will be the very best climbing tree and we can take out some ropes and a rope ladder for a barbecue/picnic one day.
Looking forward to seeing you all.
